We are excited that you are considering improving your health with us. Finding out how chiropractic and healthier lifestyle choices can make positive changes to your health and wellbeing. We know you may have questions so we have listed below some common concerns.

Is Chiropractic a recognised health care in the UK?

Chiropractic care is the third largest health profession in the UK. Chiropractic services are not generally available through the National Health Service. Hagley Road Chiropractic is registered with all major private health providers. Before attending please check your personal plan for claiming back our services. We are able to provide invoicing for those claiming back on cash plans. Patients tend to pay as they go for treatment.  We also offer a number of payment plans for those who may need a course of treatment.

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a regulated primary healthcare profession. Chiropractors are trained to diagnose, treat, manage and prevent disorders of the musculoskeletal system (bones, joints, and muscles). They also look at the effects these disorders can have on the nervous system and general health. Chiropractors have a specialist interest in neck and back pain, but also take your physical, emotional and social wellbeing into account.

Chiropractors use a range of techniques to reduce pain, improve function and increase mobility, including hands-on manipulation of the spine. As well as manual treatment, chiropractors are able to offer a package of care which includes advice on self-help, therapeutic exercises and lifestyle changes.

Chiropractic treatment mainly involves safe, often gentle, specific spinal manipulation to free joints in the spine or other areas of the body that are not moving properly. Chiropractors also use a variety of techniques including ice, heat, ultrasound, exercise and acupuncture as well as advice about posture and lifestyle.

Although chiropractors are best known for treating back and neck pain, which they do very well, patients also consult chiropractors regarding a range of other, related conditions.

What do you treat?

We generally treat neck and back pain but can also provide pain relief from symptoms such as:

Headaches
Sciatica
Frozen shoulder
Loss of movement
Trapped nerves

Is my Chiropractor Registered?

Do I need my GP to refer me?
You don’t require a GP referral to visit us. Simply phone us on 0121 4214466 and one of our friendly clinic assistants will book you an appointment at a time to suit you. You will need to provide us with a detailed case history and to make this easier you can fill this in online here (link). We are registered with all major private health providers.
What happens on my first visit?

For your first and second visit you should allow upto 1 hour for each. During your first visit you will receive a complete physical examination as well as a thorough review and discussion of your current health status. We may suggest that we take an x-ray if your problem requires further investigation and on occasion we also take urine and blood samples to rule out other factors that might be causing your pain.

At your visit you will also be able to find out more about us and how we can help you get better. You will be required to undress down to your underwear but private changing facilities and gowns are made available. All treatment is carried out fully clothed.

What treatment will I need?

At your second visit you will be given a comprehensive Report of Findings where you will receive all of the information you need to decide if you would like to go ahead with the suggested treatment plan. If we feel that yours is not a chiropractic case we will always do our best to refer you to an appropriate healthcare provider. In a number of cases we may need to write to your GP and this will all be discussed with you during your second visit.

What happens during a treatment?

During your treatment your chiropractor will use manual therapy which means they will use their hands to find and treat any misalignments of the spine. You will be fully clothed during your treatment, you may be asked to remove shoes and jewellery if required. Your Chiropractor will also assess your progress, give you advice on lifestyle changes and suggest rehabilitative exercises that you can participate in to speed your recovery.

How do I refer a friend?

Once patients see the benefits of Chiropractic they often want to share this with friends and family. We have a referral programme to help you to this Click here for more info.
