Chiropractic explained by Birmingham's leading chiropractor

Discover the incredible power of your body’s natural ability to heal with our specialists in the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of the spine and pelvis and the surrounding ligaments, muscles, and nerves.

Chiropractic is built on the knowledge that misalignment, tension, or altered function of your spine and pelvis can interfere with your nervous system and the surrounding muscles and ligaments, reducing your body’s ability to coordinate its function and cope with the stresses of your daily life.

The structure of your spine enables it to naturally absorb a significant amount of stress and tension. However, when a joint or region becomes tense and restricted, other parts of your spine that are moving smoothly move more to compensate.

Your posture can falter, while your nervous system and body functions are reduced. Pain often occurs after several years when your body cannot absorb or compensate for any more stress or tension.

Don’t miss out on the incredible benefits of chiropractic care. Millions of people worldwide have experienced this life-changing holistic treatment.

How Chiropractic works

The human body contains sensors in the joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, organs, and skin that send messages through the peripheral nervous system. This information travels to the central nervous system, where the brain interprets it and controls the body’s response.

However, abnormal function, position, or injury can disrupt this feedback system, leading to persistent pain or other issues. Emotional, physical, and chemical stress can all affect the body, causing certain muscles to become tight and overactive while others weaken. Overloaded joints and pinched nerves can also result, leading to inflammation and further impacts on the nervous system.

Chiropractic care is designed to normalise the function of joints, muscles, ligaments, and nerves throughout the body, helping to restore their proper feedback and function and reduce pain and inflammation while improving overall wellness.

How your 4 step treatment plan works

Consultation, Examination & Postural Investigation

The purpose of your first visit is to discuss your problem, for the chiropractor to find the underlying cause of your problem and determine whether chiropractic treatment would be able to help.

The Hagley Road chiropractor will take a full case history, previous health history, and conduct a thorough neurological, orthopaedic and chiropractic specific examination. If you are taking any medications, it is useful if you can bring a list of these with you. Depending on your condition, Xrays or MRI scans may be necessary to help analyse and diagnose conditions that may require a different form of treatment. This only occurs on rare occasions and everything will be fully explained beforehand.

Discuss Treatment Options for Your Health Journey

During your second visit, we will review your findings with you before proceeding with your first treatment.

One of our leading chiropractor will have already evaluated your case and will provide a detailed explanation of your condition, as well as the most appropriate course of action for you.

You will receive a customised healthcare plan based on your needs.

A Personalised Plan Of Treatments

During your second appointment, the initial treatment will comprise specific adjustments, mobilizations, soft tissue techniques, and acupuncture performed on the spine, joints, and muscles. This is done to restore normal function, ease muscle tension, remove strain from ligaments, improve the efficacy of the nervous system, and ultimately alleviate pain.

Subsequent visits are typically scheduled within a few days of the first treatment.

The severity and duration of the condition, as well as any underlying causes, will influence the number of treatments required.

Typically, we recommend scheduling treatments every 2-3 days (2-3 times a week) for 1-4 weeks for those experiencing pain.

As your condition improves, the time between sessions will be extended, up to a week, with the aim of further progress.

Follow Up Treatments & Lifestyle Advise

During each chiropractic session, progress is made gradually, just as with a typical workout at the gym. In addition to your treatment, you may receive guidance on exercises and lifestyle adjustments to optimise the benefits to your overall health.

We are also just a phone call away so if you have any questions  or need anything confirming you can call 0121 421 4466 during office hours and if we can’t answer your question there and then someone will call you back with answers you are looking for.
